Temperatures are bouncing back with another late season surge. While this may not be as intense as the return from summer break, it brings back the issue of hot classrooms and old infrastructure. Baltimore County has 52 buildings with no air conditioning and as a result was criticized for needing to declare early dismissals twice last week. According to Governor Hogan, “It’s an absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable situation, There’s no excuse not to have air conditioning fixed.”
Hogan made the comment during Wednesday’s Board of Public Works meeting. He and State Comptroller Peter Franchot want answers. They are going to bring county schools Superintendent Dallas Dance and County Executive Kevin Kamenetz to discuss how they are going to fix the problem. There is a $1.3 Billion budget for a Schools of Future for program, but that covers 10 years.
What do you think? It won’t help today, or tomorrow. Below is the forecast for the Baltimore area temperatures. You will notice a drop next week for some relief. Please share your thoughts in the comments below or on the social media page that brought you here.
Temperatures will get a break with a return to the 70s next week. That may come with an increases chance of showers as a front stalls to our south.
