There are two ways to approach the weather today and Sunday: A severe storm outbreak in Texas and Oklahoma will provide large hail and tornados (note the season twister total is below average to date). However, those storms will also increase the southern winds ahead of it and surge spring warmth and break a few records in the east. The Army Navy game in Phildelphia at 3PM will be in the mid 60s. Remember when it snowed there two years ago? Not this time… And shorts still a go for the Ravens game Sunday in Baltimore as temps still on target for 70°F. Reminder that our warm ups tend to be warmer and last longer than first suggested by models.
Below is a look at the storm complex that will move to the east, spreading the severe storm risk along the Gulf Coast on Friday as our temps push even higher. The energy aloft will reach up Monday evening, allowing for a chance we get strong thunderstorms with the cold front. Then a return back to near average during next week.
I will have more on the record high temps in another post. Note the inversion and poor air quality could linger a few more days.
