Windy Then Warm But Easter Weekend May Turn Wet

Screen Shot2016-03-21 05_54_30Monday March 21- It snowed overnight. In fact this morning, snow was still lingering along the beaches on the tail end of the coastal storm, but was having more of an impact on  New England. If you are traveling up towards Boston, there might be some delays early today. We had snow and rain showers with only minor stickage this weekend, but the ground was too warm to support it staying too long. Now the winds behind the storm will keep it chilly. Winds may gust between 30 and 40 mph as high temperatures struggle to reach 50°F. Then we will get a bounce each day through Thursday when temps get back to the 70s. Easter Weekend however might be worth watching for rain.

Here is a look at the next main weather event, a cold front that could bring strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday evening and night. After the surge to the 70s, this line of rain will arrive late in the day and pull out Friday morning.

Easter Weekend:

We are in an active spring pattern that will try to develop something every few days. After the late week thunderstorms, another system will develop along the Gulf Coast. The GFS Model is showing a push of rain back north into our region by Easter Sunday. This is a change of pace and a mid range look. Since there has been a model bias for events to verify farther north than first shown, I wanted to share this now. Don’t change your plans yet, but consider that the holiday weekend may not be completely dry.

Long Range Outlook:

I would NEVER suggest any storm event more than a week away. But since there is such variability in March from winter hanging on an big warm ups in between, I wanted to show the potential for the colder pattern trying to prevail. Next week may hold yet another strong spring storms with the jet stream trying to sink the cold air back our way.  Spring may struggle for a few weeks and there is more to think about with Orioles Opening Day just 2 weeks away.
