Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 9PM: Simulated Radar

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 9PM: Simulated Radar

Tuesday April 26 – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for our region this afternoon until 9 PM for storms that have the chance to reach winds of 60 mph and 1 inch hail. But not all storms will do that, and they showers will be scattered. There is heightened awareness today for two reasons: It is Primary Election Day here in the east and this Watch includes voting states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. But also because of the Enhanced Risk of severe storms expected in the central US. That expected outbreak of tornados will not be our issue. See the simulated radar here showing the scattered variety of potential development. Note, there will be steady rain lingering tonight in southern Maryland.

The major outbreak of tornadoes is expected to be far away from here, but still a big concern in the central US.
