May 23 2016 – As projected earlier, strong thunderstorms erupted after just a little sunshine today. The storm off of the coast, unstable air, and northeasterly flow helped to produce storms that might have caught the National Weather Service off guard. That is because the result in central York County looks like a severe storm. I was on the edge of the storm at the time and pulled over to get video to show the pea size hail. But the core of this event looked even more impressive. But there was no ‘warning’ at the time. Just east of York in Red Lion and Windsor, there was enough hail to cover the street and make it look like a mid winter snow storm. But temps were around 70F and this melted pretty quickly. Check out the top scenes captured with this event that faded a bit as it dropped south into northern Baltimore and Carroll Counties in Maryland. Thanks to all that contributed.
