July 8 – The heat and humidity is about to feed into an approaching system this afternoon. Thunderstorms will develop around noon and build into the evening as the line crosses our region. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk of severe storms reaching Baltimore. This includes York, Lancaster, through the Poconos in Pennsylvania on the north side. Washington DC to Roanoke Virginia on the south end and westward. This is a rough estimate and any individual cells could reach outside of this zone. The main threat will be high winds, while hail and tornadoes may be confined west. More on that below the radar simulation timeline.
The timing for central Maryland and southern Pennsylvania will be early to mid afternoon. The line will cross the Chesapeake Bay and reach the beaches around sunset.
