Sunday February 5 – Today is Super Bowl Sunday… A day last week that looked like we would have snow. Well, if you missed the updates over the past few days, that is gone. We will have a large storm this week that will follow the winter trend of passing to our north and bringing us rain with very warm air. Like the 60s… Not my winter! Definitely not what we would expect in February, and time is running low for us to get our snow.  Well, it appears that my theory last week might very well hold true… What does NOT show up on the long range modeling, might be a good thing for us, because the storms we track a week away often don’t verify.

Here is a quick look at the storm progress and how the energy left behind might ride along the edge of the jet stream to bring us a second push with cold enough air to produce snow.  I need to say that this is show on on the GFS and European Models, but my trusty Canadian GEM model has not caught on yet, but…

First, the rain

Jet Stream Begin Storm 1

A new Low Pressure Center center is expected to form along the base of the trough the jet stream. This is where the potential snow will form and possible track.

Storm 2 = Snow?
