Tuesday September 18 2018
A line of rain has developed as expected today. The heavy rain as of 2 PM was along I-95 and moving to the southeast. There may be an eruption of lightning and thunders as the heavy downpours move through Anne Arundel County and across the Bay to the Eastern Shore. The next few hours will be bumpy crossing the Bay Bridge. This will be a southern Maryland and mainly Delmarva event later this afternoon and evening.
A clearing sky is already showing up Frederick, Westminster, and York PA. That will filter in to metro Baltimore, Annapolis, and Bel Air before rush hour. A signal of the lower humidity and improvement on the way.
This visible satellite loop is showing showing the clearing sky behind this front. Improving weather is on the way as we finally say goodbye to Florence. But the lone of clouds appears to be growing just west of the Chesapeake Bay.
Radar Loop (2 hours ending at 2 PM)
This radar loop shows the development of the line of rain. See the snapshot of Doppler Radar from 2 PM compared to the HRRR model simulation. The model underplayed the flare up, so we can be on the look out for a wider band and possibly marginal severe cells in this cluster.
