As of 1 PM, the leading edge of the rain has reached into north central Virginia. The storm will begin with showers for a few hours followed by heavy rain tonight. This may not impact afternoon traffic much, but if you have plans tonight I would consider the heavy rain. It appears that surge of moisture will arrive in metro Baltimore by dinner time. Winds will increase into early Saturday morning. Then we will watch the back edge of the rain slowly cross the region from south to north during Saturday.
This post updates the radar simulation from our high resolution model HRRR only. The plan for where the drying line moves and what areas stay wet Saturday still hold from this morning. There will be a second push of rain Sunday night into Monday.
