March 20 2019
Under normal circumstances this would be a day to expect the unexpected. We have a full moon at 5:58 PM. But it is the last supermoon of the year. But it is also the spring equinox, as the sun will cross the equator and start our new season at 9:43 PM. This will increase coastal tides and perhaps increase the chance of a large earthquake somewhere on the planet in the next two days. But we also have a coast storm developing. There has been some connection to increasing the potency of storms during a regular full moon.
Major League Baseball is starting the season a week early with the As and Mariners playing this morning in Japan. So if you question if it’s spring, we have that and my younger son is playing fantasy baseball for his first time.
There is another piece of energy from the west that will bring in colder air and help strengthen the entire system. So as well watch this develop, it will be stronger and closer, so we can get around 1 inch of rain Thursday. But much colder air will be following and a fresh coating of snow is likely in the western Maryland mountains. More storm is possible to get closer to Baltimore next week.

Morning Set Up
Clouds are already moving in. So I hope you got to see the moon last night or this morning. We will see less sun today, and likely be overcast tonight.
Afternoon High Temps
It will be mild again in the lower 50s, but with cloud cover it will feel chilly
Thursday Morning Low Temps
We stay in the upper 30s and lower 40s, so the storm developing will just be a chilly rain.
Plan for Thursday to be a wet day. Rain should develop before sunrise, then finish at night.
- Heavy rain at times in the afternoon.
- This storm will crank in New England, which will increase our winds into Friday and Saturday.
- Snow will fall in western Maryland and central PA… enough to coat the ground Friday.
Next Storm Next Week May Bring Some Snow
There will be colder air in place and a chance for snow next Monday. But like not enough (as it appears now) for a travel problem).
The GFS and FV3 do have different solutions, but expect rain and maybe a mix with snow Monday.
Showing snow developing in the cold air behind the next cold front.
This brings Low Pressure to our south with a snow event a little more organized… but timing during the day Monday likely means trouble with stickage.
