Sunday May 5 2019
Bands of heavy rain already have set up this morning across northern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. This is part of the larger storm system that will be with us all day. The steady rain will continue through mid day, then it may break up into showers, but some heavier bands are possible and the focus will shift to strong or severe storms on our southern end into the evening.
Most of our region will remain cool in the 60s today. Some of our northern areas will drop into the upper 50s this afternoon, while some warming to the 70s in southern Maryland will be where the late day storms may thrive.

Check out the pulsing of heavy rain across northern Maryland and southern PA. This has included Hagerstown, Frederick, Eldersburg and Westminster to York PA. It will reach Baltimore, Harford, and Cecil Counties this morning. A second focus of heavy rain across southern Virginia will clip Southern Maryland before noon.

Here we can see the track of heavy rain bands. There is more on the way with the back edge of the storm is still in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and Tennessee.

This is in addition to what has already fallen. So yes, another 1 to 2 inches is possible.
Don’t expect these to move much today, except for southern MD and southeast VA. Chilly low 60s may actually drop a few degrees this afternoon
I will have a look ahead to next week in my next report
