Severe Storm Risk Wednesday August 7 and Threat To Maryland Trek 6 Day 4

Severe Weather
General
Forecast

Wednesday August 7 2019

This weather outlook includes the risk for severe storms across central Maryland and the eastern Shore. I have been busy with my Maryland Trek all week, but continue to provide morning weather updates. This one is critical to our team as we will be in central Maryland near many of our homes and in the bullseye for severe storms early to mid afternoon. See the radar simulation below for likely timing and tracking.

Severe Storms Criteria:

  • Large Hail over 1 inch diameter
  • Damaging Winds over 58 mph
  • Flash Flooding
  • Dangerous and Frequent Cloud to Ground Lighting

A Watch is issued when it ‘may’ happen.

A Warning is issued when it ‘is happening now’. Then counties or towns in the path are advised for residents to take cover.

Thanks to Smyth Jewelers and the many other sponsors that have us off and running already.

This Morning

A strong cold front will cross through with storms today.

Severe Storm Risk

Timing is everything to act on the heat of the day. Here we see the greatest risk for storms to turn severe is from Frederick across metro areas and the Bay to the beaches. This will be after 2 PM.
