As the storm departs and takes the heavy rain with it to New England, strong winds will develop across our region. Due to the proximity of the Low Pressure, coastal areas will feel it most. The higher elevations of the mountains in western Maryland, VA and WV as well. That is why a Wind Advisory goes into effect at 6 PM this evening and lasts into Thursday. In these areas, winds may gust up to 50 mph

The forecast shows the center Low Pressure crossing Long Island, NY into New England. The strongest winds will be felt locally overnight and into Thursday morning. The average wind speed will be 25 to 35 mph, but gust to 50 mph. The influence may also be felt over the area bridges, so be alert for potential restrictions.
