Thursday November 14 2019
Baltimore tied a 108 year old record low temperature yesterday, among over 100 other cities to tie or break their marks. So a cold start today should not be a surprise, but it will improve. We are still well below average, but the shift of wind will bring us back into the 40s today and 50s tomorrow, only to be follow by another drop this weekend.
Thursday Morning Temperatures At 6 AM
There has been frost forming, so you might need a few minutes to scrap your windshield or thaw your car.
Snow is flying in the Great Lakes, but its rain in the Deep South worth watching. Some rain showers will get farther north than models showed yesterday. This is something I am tracking with you to highlight any other model errors we can anticipate through the winter. In fact, we might get to test it again next week.

Rain Tonight –> slider
Tracking the southern system, the northern edge of the rain showers may reach up to Annapolis or Baltimore (briefly) at midnight. By morning this will slide back south to the beaches.
I am only showing this to compare to yesterday’s model depiction and the trend over the past two months continues to verify earlier and a little north. This is something I will factor in for future storms. That can bring in southern systems or take what looks like snow but end up warmer and more wet. We shall see…
NEW FITF GEAR THIS YEAR
- Thanks to Shannon (weather wife) who wanted to bring these hats to life. *Mustard is her favorite color
- The Maryland Hoodie is high quality and a new way to show off our love of Snow and State.
- The T-shirt… Something you may find familiar. Why just a T? Because many schools I visit have the heat on high for faculty and staff. But you can put a long sleeve underneath for cool look. I will have wifey model these soon 🙂
Storm Pattern Animation
The coastal storm still may develop at the end of the weekend, but appears to remain offshore.
*Wednesday may be worth watching. While it does not look like much more than rain showers on this depiction now, here is where the model error I have highlighted comes in. If the upper level energy does track ‘faster and farther north’, Wednesday morning could look a little more like stormy than this shows. Perhaps with a wintry mix in our region. Stay turned….
Cold again this weekend, then turning mild and more seasonal next week
