Wednesday December 18 2019
The cold air has filtered in and many of us are starting the day below freezing. Hang on, it will get colder! There was concern about the damp roads freezing. It appears the roads are fine, but there may be some patchy ice on walks and some parking lots. These numbers will be influenced by strong winds today, so wind chills will be much colder.
The numbers this morning may seem typical for late December, but it is deceiving.
Dress for a very cold day! The wind will whip up and make it feel like mid winter.
Arctic Air On The Way
The arctic front is cross the Great Lakes and will reach us by evening. Some flurries or snow showers could cross the mountains and reach us later.

The winds will gust between 20 and 30 mph. This will make the cold air feel like the teens to mid 20s.
The modeling does not always do a good j0b picking up on snow bands from Lake Erie. It is possible there will be more flurries across central Maryland than shown here.
Afternoon Highs – Staying Below Freezing
The weather looks quiet through Christmas will a warm to more comfortable mild temps. There will be one chance or rain or snow after Christmas and before New Years. January will be much more active.
