Saturday January 4 2020

The morning starts off with areas of thick fog. This is part of the warm moist air streaming in on the east side of this stormy pattern. We continue with the warm side of the storm tracks, which today can bring in some 60s to part of the region. The overall outlook remains warmer than normal through mid January, but there is a chance for a little snow next week.

Looking Ahead

There will be a developing storm on Tuesday that will bring significant snow to New England. It will be growing as it passes our region, and at last look appears to bring in a chance for a few hours of snow.

Here is the European Model showing 3 PM Tuesday afternoon. As I pointed out throughout Autumn and my Winter Outlook, the modeling has been riddled with errors. Even this more accurate computer guidance. The trend has shown systems verifying faster, which depending on the upper levels can also be farther east or north.  Check this out!

The global pattern still has the cold lock up in the same places through mid January. There are signals it will change for the second half of the month, but that may seem like an eternity for snow lovers
