Saturday February 29 2020
Today is Leap Year Day and there are specific weather records for the date. This also puts off Meteorological Spring one day until March 1st. But it feels like winter and there have been some bands of snow across southern Maryland. I will have a report in the lack of snow measurements in Baltimore later this weekend.
By next week it will feel like spring, but the models are still trying to show snow 7 to 14 days away. I have little trust in this, but I will show it just for fun below.

The incredible Lake Effect Snow Machine is easing, but it did dump up to 4 feet of snow near Watertown NY.

With the warm up next week, there will be rain. It looks like the showers will hold off until Monday night. Then a better chance for wet weather Tuesday and Wednesday.
If we get in on the instability and storms, that would be on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Looking Farther Ahead
Disclaimer: I DO NOT trust weather modeling beyond 5 days. This winter has proven many events that have not verified. However, it is about to be March and as many anticipate spring, both the ECWMF and GFS Models are trying to bring in some snow. But not at the same time.
I am showing this in part for fun. But I will track to see if it is another bogus outlook or has some validation.
ECWMF 174 Hour Forecast For 1 AM Sat March 7
GFS 276 hour Forecast For 1 PM Wed March 11
This forecast does not match the snow maps above. It is possible to have snow with temps above freezing, or with high temps that same day much higher.
The focus here should be on the days in the 60s next week (Monday – Wednesday)
