Tuesday April 7 2020
Clouds have filled back in, so this weather will not be as beautiful as yesterday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our region under a Slight Risk for severe storms later today. It’s likely that will continue until pre dawn tomorrow as you will see in the slide show simulation below. The cells that develop will possibly bring winds over 58 mph and hail over the size of quarters. This is not optimal for tornadoes.
Severe Storm Risk
The places that have had showers this morning are milder in the 50s. This is where the bulk of the showers will track today. Them more widespread this evening.
Weather Stats And Maps
Last week I started posting the daily observations and climate reports in a separate post for kids working on weather projects.
- Yesterday’s Observations
- Today’s Climate Data (temperatures, records, sun times and moon phase)
We will need to watch the storm development to our Northwest (upper left) for what will flow our way.

This is a guide, not a guarantee of how it will play out. There will be a lot of dry hours. The largest metro threat will be this evening and tonight.
This may be worth watching as a strong cold front will arrive during the afternoon in the heat of the day.
Temps will cool this weekend and it is possible inland areas have two mornings with frost.

See the maps for when we normally expect the first frost in this link.
