Tuesday Evening Update April 7 2020

Watching a line of storms this evening across the lower Great Lakes, the short range models bring that across southern Pennsylvania and into north Central Maryland before sunrise on Wednesday morning.

Tonight is the Super Full Pink Moon. It’s the largest full moon of the year. While the research is thin on the correlation, I have often shown online an enhancement of storms during a full moon. So it’s possible there is a little more action than the simulation below. We should beyond the chance for any severe limits being reached, but there could be some rubles of thunder along with heavy downpours between midnight and 6 AM.

The new NAM 3 KM Model looks more impressive than the previous run. Perhaps a renegade cell across the PA border moving west to east. But the main line will be dropping to the south.

The energy will be fading, but there may be enough for some heavy cells of rain and possible rumbles of thunder.  So if you hear it rumbling, hopefully you will not be too surprised.

This should set us up for better weather during the day. The next round of storms will arrive on Thursday. I will have a full update in the morning.
