Friday August 7 2020

The Flash Flood Watch has been expanded into southern Pennsylvania. I mentioned in my morning report that this should happen as the front and development of storms today will begin there sooner, then drop south across central and southern Maryland overnight.

Rainfall may be 1 to 3 inches where the stronger cells pass.  A new model radar simulation timeline slider and your NEW local weather pages are below.

Flash Flood Watch

Reminder: A Watch means it might happen. A Warning will be issued if and when it is occurring over a certain local area.

If you have had some sun, that will further destabilize the air and build for spotty showers.

Storms already forming across the mountains, and some around the Chesapeake Bay.

12 Noon Friday to 3 AM Saturday

  • This first image for Noon is similar to the verified Noon image above. That means the HRRR model initialized well and the guidance should be better than yesterday.
  • This suggests an active evening, with the focus shifting across central Maryland tonight.
  • Southern Maryland and the Lower Eastern Shore after midnight to early Saturday.
  • Beaches may have rain around sunrise.

My ‘bonus’ daughter made this map of Maryland a few years ago. We brought it back for needed positivity. Now on her pick of tanks, and this cool Maryland T for men or women.
