Monday January 11 2021
You might have some thick frost to scrape off of your car this morning. But, nothing will be falling from the sky locally. The storm that brought snow to Texas over the weekend will continue to pass across the southeast US, and miss us. But it will bring in more clouds.
After this passes, we end up with a mild pattern and some 50s during the week. Then we watch for the first push of cold air which may not be that strong, but it will not be the only force from that Polar Vortex Disruption.
Monday Morning Surface Weather
Forecast Snapshot: Central Maryland
The first push of cold air will arrive on Friday into Saturday. There is not a lot of moisture with this, but there may be some rain and snow showers on Saturday.
Ravens Game in Buffalo: Saturday night is likely to have snow showers in Orchard Park, NY (Home of the Bills).
Next Week: I really do NOT trust long range modeling, but there is the continued display of snow and rain one week from today.
Do you remember last week today or tomorrow was plotted to bring us snow. Well, that is not happening as that storm is passing to our south! There is still a long range error in modeling I continue to track. So, this Clipper to our north would be a miss as shown. But if it follows the trend to the south, then we have something to talk about.
It’s over one week away and not worth more than a quick look. I will watch from a distance.
At first glance this does not look nearly as cold as in prior runs. The Polar Vortex Disruption is happening and appears to be sending the core of the coldest air over Eurasia. But there will be a few surges and models are not having an easy time with it. That is why you will see a fluctuation of moderate to intense cold almost daily.
