Monday March 1 2021
The last part of our latest weather system is bringing us rain this morning. This has also been associated with thick fog, and an advisory remains this morning in northern areas. The rain will end the morning and be followed by strong winds this afternoon. Gusts may reach 40 to 50 mph, but it will bring in a few dry days.
Why a way for many Maryland teachers and kids to return back to their first day of ‘in person’ school. Good luck to all, and know there will be more cars and busses on the roads.
Dense Fog remains a factor this morning in southern PA. The same conditions might also be present in northern Maryland even without an advisory there.
Winds will dominate after the rain ends.
Morning Surface Weather
The cold front will push the rain out this morning, then strong winds will build shortly afterwards.
Most of our region starts the day in the 40s. Cooler 30s in PA, but above freezing. Milder 50s near the beaches.

Rain will fade to showers the morning in metro areas, but linger on the Lower Eastern Shore into the afternoon.
Most of the time winds will be 20 to 30 mph, but gusts may reach 40 to 50 mph at times. This is mainly north of I-70 and Baltimore.
A brief bump on the thermometers will be followed by cooling again with the strong winds.
Jet Stream Animation
While the middle of the nation warms up, we will get a reinforcing push of colder air along the east coast, thanks to blocking in the North Atlantic.
