Tuesday May 4 2021
This morning you will notice the increase in humidity, perhaps even some thick fog. This is one of the results of the storms we had last evening and overnight.
The four hours of tornado warnings and wind damage path between Charles Town, WV to Baltimore County, MD should be a signal that today could be extra busy.
Severe Storm Outlook
Our region has a ‘Marginal’ risk for storms to turn severe, but we should consider that threat higher. A line of storms later today may produce: Winds to 60 mph, large hail up to 1 inch, and isolated tornadoes.
Tuesday Morning Map
The ground is damp from rain last night and early this morning. The next cluster of storms will arrive this afternoon. That will lead into the increased humidity to fuel storms later today. The cold front will reach us tomorrow with one more push of active weather, then a noticeable drop in temps to end the week.

Looking Ahead: Rain Animation
Wednesday To Sunday (Mother’s Day)
Morning rain and another push of storms to our south tomorrow, then another band of rain on Friday.
There has been a push to the east of all systems, so that coastal storm does not show here, but it allows the next systems to catch up on Sunday.
Yesterday I suggested to treat Mother’s Day with a 50% chance of rain. Now it looks even more likely… So maybe have indoor plans.
Sunshine State Of Mind
I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
This was designed by Shannon Berk and we will be wearing it through spring and to the beach.
Double Benefit: Proceeds will be split between our nonprofit Just In Power Kids and the development of my new weather website. That has been scheduled to be ready to launch in May.
